bike shop

architectural design

Gears, a regional Toronto bike retailer, added at location in a new condo community that allowed our design to take advantage of generous ceiling height. An existing lowered slab in one area became the bike repair shop with a custom bent steel counter separating it from the sales floor.  Above this area, we worked with an industrial mezzanine fabricator to build an overhead storage for repaired bikes awaiting pick-up. The entire 3,000sf store was based on an affordable, industrial aesthetic exposing the intricacies of the piping and structure that serve and support the residential units above. The ceiling of bikes and wall of bikes exhibit the honesty of the space allowing the bikes to define the space.
